New PhD student in CAMK Warsaw, Poland
Zofia Piszczek completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Astronomy at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. Her Bachelor’s thesis concerned the period-luminosity relation for classical Cepheids (“Impact of the method of determining the luminosity of classical Cepheids on the period-luminosity relation”), while her Master’s thesis focused on Long Secondary Period (LSP) variables and their spectral energy distribution (“Study of the spectral energy distribution of long secondary period variable stars from the OGLE catalog”).
During her PhD studies at CAMK Zofia will research classical Cepheids in order to use them as distance indicators, based on the Baade-Wesselink method.
