A prestigious European Research Council Proof of Concept grant was awarded to the project „Toward Autonomous Observatories” lead by prof. Pietrzyński and the IT team from the Araucaria Project.
April has been an eventful month for the Araucaria Project, because we took part in a series of events leading to the local, Chilean inauguration of the Rolf Chini Cerro Murphy Observatory (OCM).
Members of the Araucaria Project were invited to the cocktail party joined with the presentation of the Rolf Chini Cerro Murphy Observatory at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Santiago de Chile.

Grzegorz Pietrzyński and Pierre Kervella have been awarded a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie and Pierre Curie Polish-French Science Award.
In 2021 we’ve been busy working on a book that would summarize and highlight Araucaria’s most important scientific endeavours and their importance in the context of the extragalactic distance scale.
On October 28th we celebrated a doctoral degree obtained by Piotr Wielgórski.
On April 29th we said goodbye to a PhD student and welcomed a postdoc in the Araucaria Project.
This exact day 15 years ago we published a paper that became a setting stone for our long-lasting project on improving the calibration of the cosmic distance scale in the local Universe.
