International Araucaria Meeting 2024, Paris, France
On September 2-6, 2024, the extended Araucaria group met at the Biennial Araucaria Meeting at Observatoire de Paris, France, and for a week discussed the most recent scientific projects conducted by their members.
🔥️ Hot topics were: eclipsing binaries as tools to determine exact distances, masses, radii, the surface brightness-color relation, the p-factor, the distance determination from reverberation of AGNs, the reddening law and “grey extinction”
🔭️ In our future projects we will: explore determining distances to supernovas type Ia with various methods alternative to Cepheids, survey nearby galaxies to look for eclipsing binaries using new telescopes at OCM
👣 We exercised work-life balance by visiting museums, strolling through the city, and exploring local cuisine and beverages
We thank all our members and friends for participating. Your contribution made this Araucaria Meeting a valuable and memorable experience. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in 2 years! 🤩
